Shadab Khan’s Century Inspires Pakistan to Stunning Victory!

Pakistan pulled off a thrilling and remarkable one-wicket victory over England in yesterday’s (October 25) ODI in the tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England.

With this victory, Pakistan also secured their place in the final of the tournament.

Batting first, England were lifted by a century from Ben Duckett. However, Pakistan’s bowlers made an excellent start, reducing England to 53 for 4. Ben Duckett and Sam Curran then rebuilt the innings with a 92-run partnership. England eventually managed to score 241 runs before being bowled out in 46.4 overs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed four wickets for Pakistan.

Chasing a target of 242, Pakistan were in a desperate position at 154 for 9. However, Shadab Khan produced a magnificent innings, scoring his maiden ODI century and remaining unbeaten to guide Pakistan to an astonishing victory.

Shadab and Haris Rauf added an unbeaten 89 runs for the final wicket, setting a new record for the highest 10th-wicket partnership in a successful ODI run chase.

With Pakistan needing another 21 runs for victory, Shadab, on 97, was initially given out leg before wicket. However, UltraEdge technology confirmed that the ball had made contact with his bat, allowing him to continue his innings.

Pakistan eventually reached 243 for 9 in 47.1 overs to seal the victory.

England, who had failed to defend a target of 429 runs in their previous match, once again suffered a heartbreaking defeat after coming close to victory. This was their third consecutive loss in the tournament, leaving their hopes of qualifying for the final in serious jeopardy.
